As noted yesterday here on the website, Nigel McGuinness was telling people backstage at the TNA tapings last night that WWE took too long to finalize his contract so he opted to sign with TNA instead.
According to a new report, we can now confirm that McGuinness failed WWE's prescreening test. WWE then pulled their verbal offer and he was not offered a contract with the company.
According to a source, Nigel didn't fail for a drug test. All indications are that it was medically related.
There is no word on if McGuinness told TNA management the real story or not. There is also no prescreening test for TNA talent. As noted earlier, he was telling TNA talent that WWE took too long with their contract which was not the case.
There is no heat on WWE senior vice president of talent relations John Laurinaitis as he was only doing his job. |

| Things starting to make sense Do people think its his long term injuries he's been carrying and working through or a long term medical condition?
Lets hope Danielson passed. |

| Could be a blessing in disguise for him, as IMO he wouldn't start in the WWE with a feud against the main man in the buisness. |

| Yeah true, however what next after that for McGuinness, the only way is down, not like they will take the strap off AJ, while its a good start, those starts are hard to maintain, especially when your name has been completely changed so the guys who have only heard of you but saw you wont know who you are, look at Jericho, on his return he was in a feud with Orton for a couple of weeks, after that it took him about 6 months to find a place for himself |

| I know he's had el;bow and shoulder problems and also suffered concussions and missed RoH shows because of it. I guess after Tomko signed for 1 dark match in a bit of a mess Laurinitis wasn't taking any chances. |

| I've never understood why the WWE do that anyway, everyone knows that most of the WWE guys hit the roids when they are going to be away from the company for a while, so if he isn't going to pass the screening then why not just pay him and give him a month to prove he can pass it so he can't sign with anyone else. |

| Christopher Daniels posted a brief note on his Twitter account regarding Nigel McGuinness signing on with TNA.
“Nigel McGuinness at TNA is their loss and our gain!! A good guy wins in the end!!” Daniels wrote.
He later posted a follow-up tweet responding to an article saying he was “gloating” about TNA swiping Nigel McGuinness from World Wrestling Entertainment.
“Hey PWTorch! I’m not gloating! I’m saying that if they had him and let (him) go, better for us. He’s someone that should have been signed long ago,” Daniels wrote.
McGuinness agreed in principal to a deal with WWE last month, but the contract was not finalized. |

| McGuinness vs Angle - Book it!
We should certainly see soon what kind of physical condition McGuinness is actually in, hopefully it's just WWE being ultra cautious.
I'd really like to see McGuinness given a big push in TNA, they should really play up the fact that he is a former world champion. I'd like to see him in the World Elite, positioned as their upper midcard\main event competitor, as that is something that the group is currently lacking.
So long as he is booked well then I think he could really do well for himself in TNA, he's the sort of guy the TNA fans have gotten behind in the past. |
